Position: Warehouse Assistant/Donations Driver
Clark County Habitat for Humanity Store

Overview

This is a paid part-time position (24 hours per week) reporting directly to the Habitat for Humanity Store Manager. The Warehouse Assistant/Donations Driver is responsible for working with other HFH Store staff in running the day to day operations of the store as well as being a backup donations pickup driver or assistant to the driver.

Responsibilities as Warehouse Assistant

Customer Service

  • Inspect and approve donations as they come into the store, ensuring they meet our donation guidelines.
  • Make sure that every donor receives a thank you and a donation slip that it is filled out properly.
  • Treat customers with respect at all times.
  • Help customers in the store as needed, including loading and unloading donations.
  • Be willing and able to communicate Habitat’s mission with volunteers, customers and donors.

Volunteer Guidance

  • Guide and assist volunteers in their work, understanding that each is an individual with different capabilities.
  • Keep volunteers actively engaged in meaningful work, while also finding work appropriate for each individual.
  • Ensure that each volunteer feels appreciated and their efforts valued during their time at the HFH Store.
  • Lead volunteers by example in all aspects of your work.
  • Treat each volunteer equally, with patience and respect, without regard to background, appearance, abilities, sex, creed etc.
  • To help maintain an efficient volunteer program, staff shall report problems, concerns or inconsistencies with volunteers to the Volunteer Coordinator in a timely manner so that issues can be addressed appropriately.

Teamwork

  • Know and understand the ultimate goals of the HFH Store, and work with all staff to meet those goals.
  • Organize, stock and merchandise the store, with safety for everyone being a top priority.
  • Work with warehouse staff to keep the work area clean and organized, the goal being to end each day ready for the next.

Additional Responsibilities as Donations Driver and Truck Assistant

  • Drive the truck in a safe, law abiding manner as needed for the pickup of HFH Store donations, giving driving priority to volunteer drivers.
  • Be respectful and polite to donors and other truck crew at all times.
  • Ensure every donation meets our donation criteria, and be able to politely and respectfully decline when they do not.
  • Assist and work with volunteer drivers and assistants.
  • Monitor the maintenance of our vehicles and report any issues or problems to the Manager.
  • Help train new drivers and truck assistants.
  • To be fully competent in the use of our truck and warehouse equipment, and be capable of lifting 50 pounds on an ongoing basis.

  • To communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and varied language skills.
  • To learn about Habitat for Humanity and the HFH Store, and be able to communicate our mission and purpose to volunteers and customers.
  • To be able to work in a team environment.
  • To be willing to work within the guidelines of Habitat for Humanity.
  • To help create an atmosphere within the HFH Store that encourages and fosters an open sharing of ideas, concerns, and hopes.

Pay rate: $11.00/hour
